Q: What is the best course to take if I am considering a career with flowers?
A: Our Business of Floristry course would be ideal and is specifically geared toward those who want a change of career. This well established course is perfect for those that are looking to earn money either as a full time florist and shop owner or a part time freelancer.
Q: How do you fit everything I need to know into just two weeks on the Business of Floristry course?
A: We are able to do this by having several tutors on this course with complementary expertise. The tutors are experienced florists and are therefore able to pass over their knowledge efficiently and effectively. Paper work is limited and our tutors concentrate on giving their experience and knowledge without restraint.
Q: Will I be ready to start a business when I have completed the Business of Floristry course?
A: Many of our students have started their own business immediately on completion of the course, with a great deal of success. We would however recommend that you gain some experience in a shop first. That is why we are happy to arrange work experience for all our students on completion of the Business course.
Q: Will I receive a certificate on completion of the course?
A: On completion of all of our courses three days or longer, you will receive a gold-embossed Judith Blacklock certificate of completion.
Q: Are the Business of Floristry and Diploma Course in Floral Design certificates a recognised qualification?
A: Yes, our gold-embossed certificate will be awarded to you on completion of both courses and is recognised by the British Accreditation Council.
Q: What is the difference between floristry and floral design?
A: Generally, floral design refers to the art of arranging flowers as a hobby whereas commercial floristry is a term used for those who work with flowers as a career. Generally, florists have also studied advanced wedding work, wired designs, contract work and sympathy designs.

Q: I haven't got a creative bone in my body but I love flowers. Will a course at the school be suitable for me?
A: Judith believes that if you have knowledge of the plant material available, learn how to keep the stems in place and understand how to choose successful flower combinations then you will acquire the confidence to do anything. We will teach you what you need to know to have this confidence.
Q: I would like to learn how to arrange flowers for myself and for friends but not do Floristry as a career. What is the best course for this?
A: The best course for you would be the One Week Intensive Floral Design course – it is perfect for those that want to be able to successfully and confidently arrange flowers for pure enjoyment. If attending a course full time for one week is not convenient, the Diploma Course in Floral Designis similar in content but has a part time schedule (two half days per week for four weeks). A good working knowledge of English is required for the One Week Intensive, whereas the Diploma Course in Floral Designis suitable for all students including those with English as a second language.
Q: What is special about your school?

Q: What is included in the cost of the course?
A: The course fee includes all flowers and materials the course, so it is not necessary for you to bring anything with you to the school. We will provide you with tools and an apron each day. You will also receive a Judith Blacklock Flower School bag to carry your created designs home at the end of each day.
Q: Does Judith Blacklock ever teach on the courses?
A: Judith aims to teach at least part of all courses and is also available to answer any questions.
