All in a twist

The undulating, sinuous curve of the tulips are put to advantage in this contemporary design.

You will need
• square cube container
• floral foam
• a bunch of twining stems such as those of the Actinidia. You could also use contorted willow or hazel.
• about 20 tulips
• decorative wire
• 7 Aspidistra leaves or other smooth textured foliage

TIP
Tulips continue to grow once cut. This will not detract from this design which should last for at least a week. Keep the dried stems in place and replace your tulips for a continuous display.

tulip arrangement Method
  1. Position wet floral foam in the container to rise about one third of the way up the cube. Add water to rise above.
  2. Impale the ends of the Actinidia stems n the foam to create a balanced mass.
  3. Add the tulips to the design. Some may have their ends in foam, others may rest on the foam and have their stems held in place by decorative wire attached to the twisted stems.
  4. Manipulate the Aspidistra leaves and position close to the foam to cover. Alternatively, insert short stems of other smooth textured foliage
