Flowers for Beginners

We have had lots of requests for a course that is suitable for complete beginners who don't know a peony from a rose, and we think that this session could be the perfect answer.

You will start the day at New Covent Garden Flower Market where you cannot fail to be wowed and inspired by the vast selection of flowers, foliage, plants, vases, containers, candles, ribbons, shells - and just about everything you could possibly need.

We will introduce you to stunning blooms, teach you how to choose the freshest and loveliest specimens - and how to care for them so that they last to their full potential.

Following this immersion into the world of flowers, a coach will take you to Kinnerton Street for a much deserved breakfast of croissants and coffee. We will then arrive at the flower school where we will continue with all the tips you could need, plus the chance to make one stunning design to take home.

Cynthia S, Flowers for Beginners - June 2015
I would highly recommend the flowers for beginners course. A highlight was walking around the new covent garden market with Judith who took the time to introduce us to the different flowers and gave excellent tips on how to select and care for the blooms. Under Judith's attentive tutelage we all prepared a stunning arrangement which we were able to take home and enjoy.

I recently attended the Flowers for Beginners course and cannot recommend it highly enough; it is the perfect morning for someone who loves flowers and wants to learn more. We started at New Covent Garden Flower Market where Judith shared her passion and knowledge of flowers as we walked around fascinated by the enormous range of blooms. Following breakfast at the market caf we were transported to Judith's school in Knightsbridge and there followed the amazing experience of creating our own table decorations. Judith demonstrated and we followed and were guided by her expertise - I cannot say how proud I was of my finished design! I can only describe the course as exhilarating and cannot wait to attend the handtied bouquet & Christmas wreath course.

I recently attended Judith's introduction to flower arranging course and really enjoyed the whole experience. I'd flagged up with the school that I'd had an accident a few days previously and I was on crutches and they assured me that I would be ok. Judith really watched out for me and made sure that I was well looked after. I'm really pleased with the display that I created and have learnt a new skill that I will use going forward. Judith and her team were very relaxed and welcoming and were great hosts. Looking forward to trying another of her courses in the future.

I attended the "Flowers for Beginners" course last Friday with my mother who was over for a weekend visit. We met Judith and the other students under the large clock in the heart of the flower traders' market. From that moment, we were taken under Judith's wing and led gently into the wonderful world of floristry! Judith is a floricultural wizard and the course felt rather like a class one might take at Hogwarts - especially after seeing the creations that we were able to come up with by the end of it! Judith, Tom and Julia: thank you for a superb start to the weekend. I highly recommend this course which is suited to all nationalities and any age group.

For her birthday I bought my other half the "Flowers for Beginners" one-day course at Judith's school. She absolutely loved it, and found the tuition top-notch. It sounded like a full day, with an early start dashing from New Covent Garden Flower Market to the Blacklock School in Knightsbridge. She came home beaming, with a display she'd made and full of ideas for future courses I could buy her for Xmas and Valentine's Day... At £150, for everything you get, it was actually excellent value, and included transport and what was by all accounts a very good breakfast.. Highly recommended.

Always important to tap into one's creativity - keeps you alive! Yesterday's Flowers for Beginners course was fantastic - inspired me to create, inspired me to love and want to work with flowers even more and I'm now inspired in 'me' :) All that impact in just 4 hours, not to mention a fab tour of New Covent Garden Market, which was a first for me. The course was very practical yet magical, I like Judith's down to earth approach and her endless 'top tips'. Plus I got to take home a beautiful arrangement I created. This was a very valuable and unforgettable day. Thank you.
Visiting the flower market was like spending a month in the country - fantastic!
