Introduction to Floristry
We have often received requests for a three day course with shorter hours to enable school pick-ups or to fit around a hectic life style. We have also received requests for courses that are financially obtainable, to fit within a budget often confined by all the demands of life. So we like to think this new three day course fits both criteria.
' I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will recommend it without hesitation to anyone who has a love for flowers. After this course with Judith I feel more confident to have a go and to experiment.'
Dates: 28th - 30th August 2018 & 29th - 31st October 2018
This course is designed for those who want to learn the essential skills of floristry and floral design. It is simply packed with information, tips and advice that are easy to remember. The atmosphere and informed teaching will make the sessions relaxed but conducive to learning. As with all our other courses there will be a maximum of 13 students participating. We also have students who are contemplating the two week intensive business course but because they have no prior experience are worried if it is right for them or if they have the skill. This course will take those students safely into the world of flowers and we are confident will allay any fears they may have had.
You will learn the essential skills through hands on practical work, powerpoint presentations and the huge amount of knowledge that our experienced tutors have at their finger tips.
Students are always eager to know how to price and cost their work, once they enter the semi-professional world of flowers. We have therefore decided to include this information on this course which has proved very popular and a key part of the course.
You will cover:
- wiring techniques
- handtied bouquets
- table designs
- flowers in a vase
- working on a large scale
Theoretical work will include:
- pricing and costing your work
- knowing how to recognise fresh and good quality flowers
- the essentials for creating floral designs for weddings, events and parties
- setting up your own business from home
- buying from a wholesale market with a visit to New Covent Garden Flower Market
Although you will take your flowers home each day on this course, on some days we will be using elements from the mornings work in the afternoon session.
Judith Blacklock Certificate awarded on completion of this course.
