Flower Arranging Sustainable Style

A one day course using a sumptuous array of English garden flowers, foliage, herbs and berries of early autumn with their vibrant colours, scent and textures. This course will teach you how to arrange flowers sustainably. Reusable mechanics such as pinholders (kenzan) and chicken wire will be used and you will be introduced to the new floral foam which is 51 percent bio-degradable.

Date: 17th September 2018

Are you just as concerned as we are about the effects of plastic on our natural environment and would like to learn how to arrange flowers in an environmentally friendly way, then this course if for you!

During this action-packed day, we will teach you about reusable mechanics such as pinholders (kenzan), tape and chicken wire. We will also discuss the sustainability of cut flowers and Judith will advise on what flowers to grow for flower arranging; be it a garden, balcony or patio.

In the morning you will learn how to create the perfect flowers in a low container using adhesive tape. We will also demonstrate the use of a penholder and how you can make a minimalist design to great effect. In the afternoon, we will create a table decoration, using the handtied technique, with garden flowers, foliage, herbs and berries of early autumn with their vibrant colours, scent and textures. No foam! We will also be demonstrating other ideas.

Seasonal is key when looking after the environment and we will therefore use the most wonderful seasonal and local flowers that combine fragrance with beauty and exciting colour. And don’t worry, we will supply you with jute bags to take all your arrangements home. A day not to be missed!
