How does English design differ from design in other parts of the world? Is it compatible?
English design is similar to that in other parts of the world but of course there are differences. For example, the hand tied in Europe is incredibly popular but in many parts of the US flowers are sold in a vase. In the online course we show how each design can be used for many different occasions. For example a wreath for a funeral can be easily adapted for Christmas, either on the door or as a table centrepiece with a candle, baubles or cones in the centre.
Wiring measurements are measured differently in many countries. Is help given?
Yes we give both the metric and Imperial measurements to avoid possible confusion.
What can I expect when I sign up for this course?
By following the modules and the help offered by Judith and your personal tutor you will achieve a high level of skills and knowledge that will enable you to join the floristry profession after completion and maybe before.
Does the Professional Business course fully prepare you to be a florist?
You never stop learning and I always recommend you have unpaid work experience before setting up your own business. With the diploma awarded on completion, you should find getting work experience not too difficult. I am here to help if you have problems.
Is this Floral Design Diploma course good for a floral enthusiast?
This course is perfect for anyone who has no previous experience with flowers but a passion for flowers and making them look beautiful. They will be able to do parties, small events and weddings and love every moment.
Can this course be tailored to fit?
The courses have been written in a specific way and in a specific order. They cover just about every aspect of flowers in their particular category and they work!
How sustainable is the course?
For both courses we start with a 50 minute video describing the different ways you can keep your stems in place. These are called mechanics. I discuss chicken wire, moss, floral foam, floral foam alternatives such as Phoam which is made from corn starch, Oshun pouch, rubber bands and even vegetables. In some of the step by step videos, floral foam is used but I also offer alternatives. You need to know what is out there and how they work best. You can then make your own decision on how you want to work.
