An intensive mix of practical work and inspiration. There are now a huge range of outlets where you can buy your flowers – from the supermarket to the high-end florist. You will learn where to go, how to recognise fresh flowers and how to make them last.
The course will start with an understanding of the basic elements and principles of design. These will help you to understand where you may have been going wrong in the past. Current trends and styles in floral design will be discussed including the use of foam and locally grown flowers.
You are welcome to bring images of any floral designs you have created or vases that are difficult to use to the class. This flower arranging course, which has been designed for those relatively inexperienced with flowers will help you to arrange flowers at home with confidence and flair.
For the practical work you will first make a table centrepiece with a structured formula to which you can add your own flair and individuality. We also show you all the different ways to arrange your stems in place – using pinholders, chicken wire, tape and foam. After lunch at one of the many local places in this idyllic part of Knightsbridge you will learn how to choose the mix of flowers that makes the perfect handtied with a spiral of stems to impress all.
